Abstract

Green hydrogen can help with deep decarbonization, but its role in rural energy system remains underexplored. This study evaluates a grid-connected solar-wind hybrid system designed to supply rural electricity and facilitate green hydrogen production in India. Solar photovoltaic panels and wind turbines are the main parts of the hydrogen generation system. Grid power is also used to help. The system now has an electrolyzer, a hydrogen tank, a converter, and a battery bank. HOMER Pro software was used to look at the costs. The optimized system, which included a 25-kW solar PV, a 4 MW wind turbine, a 246-kW converter, a 250 kW electrolyzer, and a 300 kg hydrogen tank, had a minimum NPC of 2825, 129. The LCOE was 0. 035/kWh and the LCOH was 6. 01/kg. The system took 10. 26 years to repay, and the internal rate of return (IRR) was 7. 2%. The proposed system can cut carbon dioxide emissions by 3859263 kg/year.
