This work demonstrates an electroreductive method to synthesize α-aminosilanes from imines, suggesting new possibilities for diverse synthetic applications.
α-Aminosilanes serve as synthetically valuable building blocks due to their potential as α-amino radicals/anion precursors. However, existing synthetic methods often suffer from limitations such as low functional group compatibility, the need for preprepared silyl precursors, and the limited silyl substituent diversity. This work reports an electroreductive silylation of imines, enabling the synthesis of α-aminosilanes using chlorosilanes as silyl sources. The establishment of this method provides a versatile platform for enriching diverse libraries of α-aminosilanes.
