Case study reveals silent retractions of papers in an open access journal, highlighting ethical concerns.
Scientists should be concerned when published literature, especially that which is indexed and has been assigned a digital object identifier (DOI), is removed from a journal’s website, for whatever reason. In this case study of an open access supply chain journal, International Supply Chain Technology Journal, which has now apparently shuttered its publishing operations, it is noted how five papers had been “silently” removed (i.e., retracted) by February 2024, including their titles, abstracts, authors’ lists, and PDF files, even though the journal claimed to be open access. The success of a supply chain journal lies in rigorously implemented and transparent ethical policies.
