High magnetic fields examine dielectric relaxation in dipolar rotors, indicating minimal field effects.
Dielectric relaxation of two solid-state dipolar rotor systems—a crystalline molecular gyrotop 1 and a plastic crystal 2—was examined under high magnetic fields. Both materials exhibit Debye-type orientational polarization arising from thermal molecular rotation. Dielectric spectra measured up to ~15 T showed no detectable field-induced changes. For comparison, a silicon wafer 3 displayed clear magnetic-field-dependent Debye relaxation originating from carrier dynamics.
