Research demonstrates stabilization of benzene radical trianion in yttrium complex, indicating novel complex formation.
The cover illustrates the realization of the elusive benzene radical trianion stabilized in an inverse-sandwich yttrium complex. In their Research Article (e21849), Matthias Driess, Selvan Demir, and co-workers present the synthesis along with structural, computational, EPR and UV-Vis spectroscopic data of this unprecedented type of benzene-metal π complex, which features the [YIII–(C6H6)3–•–YIII] electronic structure and weak aromaticity of the benzene unit.
