Uncovers relationships between tectonic disturbances in fracture zones, suggesting a new classification system.
A key to understanding space-time relationships between tectonic disturbances in fracture zones is the following principle existing in nature: the longer a fracture is being formed (a time factor), the more extended it is (a spatial factor). This principle is assumed to be a basis of the classification system, structural elements of which depending on a particular situation play the role of a magistral (or major) geosuture, outstripping or feature fractures, i.e., all types of displacements in fracture zones. The system compiled has both theoretical (methodological) and practical significance and implies a number of consequences, which are also considered in this paper.
