Abstract

We investigated the efficacy of Prevotella intermedia culture supernatant (P. int. sup.) on alveolar macrophage-like cells (AMLCs) differentiated from bone marrow cells in mice. Figure 1. P. int. sup. augments phagocytic function and impairs bactericidal ability. Figure 2. P. int. sup. increases the intracellular burden of Mycobacterium avium and suppresses bactericidal gene expression in AMLCs. Figure 3. Bulk RNA sequencing shows downregulation of mRNA expression in Mycobacterium avium-infected AMLCs. Figure 4. P. int. sup. downregulates type I interferon signaling and anti-mycobacterial genes while upregulating IL-6 and MHC class II expression in Mycobacterium avium-infected AMLCs. Figure 5. P. int. sup. increases membrane-bound LC3 in Mycobacterium avium-infected AMLCs in flow cytometry assay.
