Qualitative analysis highlights advocacy organizations' role in mediating labour disputes among migrant workers, suggesting enhanced support for effective resolution.
Port Elizabeth District in South Africa has experienced significant migration of workers from rural areas to urban centers, particularly Johannesburg, over the last decade. A qualitative approach was employed by analysing case studies of labour disputes where migrant worker advocacy groups played active roles, supplemented with interviews and document reviews from relevant stakeholders. The theoretical framework highlights the pivotal role of these groups as mediators and advocates for migrant workers' rights, contributing effectively to a more harmonious labour environment in Port Elizabeth District. Policymakers should recognise and support these organizations by providing resources and legal backing to ensure their effectiveness in resolving future disputes.
