Systematic review reveals mining reduces agricultural land use in Zambia, suggesting urgent policy action is needed.
Mining activities have impacted agricultural land use in Zambia over the years. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using databases such as PubMed and Scopus. Studies were screened based on predefined inclusion criteria related to impact assessment methodologies and time frame (-). Findings indicate that mining activities have led to a significant reduction in agricultural land use by approximately 15% across the country. Mining operations significantly disrupt traditional farming patterns, necessitating policy interventions to mitigate adverse effects on agriculture. Policy makers should implement zoning regulations to protect critical agricultural zones from mining activities and promote sustainable land management practices. The empirical specification follows Y=β₀+β^ X+ε, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
