The Base Control System (BCS) provides multidirectional flexibility and damping to reduce seismic demands. Parametric studies show that adjusting the vertical-to-horizontal spring stiffness ratio is effective in limiting structural response. Shaking table tests and sensitivity analyses were conducted on domestic piping systems with and without three-directional viscous dampers (3D viscous dampers).
