Key Points

  • To address the system identification problem in mechanical and structural monitoring when the response is a probabilistic process.
  • Utilized a likelihood function constructed from probability density functions of simple harmonic motion.
  • Considered effects of varying sampling periods on the identification process.
  • Investigated the case where responses deviate from ideal sinusoidal patterns.
  • Demonstrated a method to extend traditional system identification approaches under variable sampling conditions.
  • Provided insights on how probabilistic responses can be analyzed for accurate parameter estimation.
