Mixed-methods evaluation reveals urban proximity impacts patient satisfaction in district hospitals, suggesting targeted interventions.
District hospitals in Ethiopia play a crucial role in healthcare delivery, yet their performance varies significantly across regions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including quantitative data analysis from surveys conducted among patients and staff. A linear regression model with robust standard errors was used to analyse the impact of various factors on patient outcomes. The regression analysis revealed that a district hospital's proximity to urban centers significantly influenced patient satisfaction levels (r = -0.35, p < 0.01). This study highlights the importance of considering regional disparities in healthcare system evaluations and underscores the need for targeted interventions. District health authorities should prioritise improving access to urban healthcare facilities and patient education programmes to mitigate risks effectively.
