Proposes a geological model explaining lead-zinc deposits in sandstones, indicating unique formation conditions and mineralization processes.
A geological genetic model is proposed for a stratiform lead-zinc deposit in Carboniferous sandstones. It is based on the investigated deposits from the southeastern Dnieper-Donetsk depression. These deposits are localized in brachyanticlines, which are broken by the Devonian salt stocks. Pre-ore alterations of the rocks are expressed in beresitization (deep horizons) and argillization. Carbonaceous metasomatism is accompanied by depositing galena, sphalerite, pyrite, marcasite, and sphene. The deposit was formed during the Old Cimmerian tectonic activization by ascending solutions whose temperature amounted to 300 °C, and mineralization to 45 % equiv. NaCl.
