View Full Paper
CUCristian UdovicichPCPatrick CheungWCWilliam Chu

Key Points

  • To compare long-term outcomes of SBRT and HDR brachytherapy for treating intermediate-risk prostate cancer.
  • Post hoc pooled analysis
  • Used prospective data
  • Compared biochemical control failure and acute genitourinary adverse events
  • SBRT resulted in significantly lower biochemical control failure (BCF) rates.
  • SBRT had significantly fewer acute genitourinary adverse events (AEs).
  • No significant difference in late patient-reported quality of life (PR-QoL) between the two treatments.

Abstract

This post hoc pooled analysis reports a long-term comparison of SBRT and HDR-BT using prospective data. SBRT had significantly lower BCF and acute genitourinary AEs, and there was no significant difference in late PR-QoL.
