This deliverable describes the efforts made to create Standard Observation (SO) protocols for the eLTER research infrastructure, and set them in context among the wider landscape of environmental monitoring, including efforts at harmonisation, and should be read alongside the overview of the selection process for the SO variables covered in Zacharias et al. (2024).
