Qualitative analysis evaluates refugee rights advocacy efforts in Congo, suggesting improved communication strategies.
The article examines language barriers faced by Burundian refugees in Congo border regions during the period of advocacy efforts for their rights. A qualitative approach was employed, involving interviews with local community leaders, refugees, and advocacy organizations operating in the region. The analysis highlights the critical role of language in refugee rights advocacy, underscoring the need for culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate interventions to enhance communication and support. Future efforts should prioritise multilingual education materials and community engagement activities that address specific linguistic needs of refugees. Standardised training programmes can be developed based on successful model interventions.
