ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Léa Marpeaux and Claire Baudouin are co-first authors on ‘ A supracellular actin network transmits forces over long distances at the apical surface of squamous carcinoma cells’, published in JCS. Léa is a Research advisor in the lab of Gregory Emery at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC), Université de Montréal, Canada, investigating actin cytoskeletal organization in collectively migrating cells and its role in regulating this process, primarily using confocal microscopy. Claire is a PhD student in the same laboratory, where her goal is to understand the link between cell cytoskeleton and biomechanical properties of the cells.
