This report details archaeological data recovery revealing habitation evidence in Wisconsin, suggesting insights into prehistoric Native American life.
This report details the results of the archaeological data recovery at the Finch site (47JE0902/BJE-0101) located within the WIS 26 corridor in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. The Finch site is a prehistoric Native American habitation/campsite containing evidence of occupation spanning from Early Paleoindian through Late Woodland periods. The Finch site was most intensively occupied during the Woodland Tradition, yielding a rich archaeological dataset representative of Early, Middle, and Late Woodland period domestic habitations. Notably, the Early and Middle Woodland components at the Finch site significantly contributes to the understanding of the regional prehistory of southeastern Wisconsin. Collections and original field records are curated at the Archaeological Research Laboratory Center, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
