A forward problem of transient electromagnetic sounding is solved using eigenvalue analysis in a conductive environment, indicating practical implications for geophysical studies.
A solution to the forward problem of transient electromagnetic sounding (TES) is given for one-dimensional models. Determination of transient field of a dipole (electric and magnetic) source is reduced to a problem of eigenvalues of a three-diagonal symmetric matrix for spatial harmonics in the time domain.
