Examines copeptin levels in mild acute pancreatitis, suggesting it may not indicate disease severity.
Introduction: Arginine vasopressin (AVP), a hormone of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, is stimulated by endogenous stress. Copeptin is a glycopeptide derived from a pre-pro-hormone, which directly mirrors AVP levels. Copeptin has been shown to be elevated in various infectious and noninfectious diseases, and in acute pancreatitis. The present study aimed to examine copeptin in mild acute pancreatitis patients and to investigate it as a severity index.
