Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centre Systems in Nigeria Using Quasi-Experimental Design

CEChikechi Ejikechukwu

Key Points

  • The study aims to evaluate the operational efficiency and patient satisfaction of community health centers in Nigeria.
  • Mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Quantitative data collected from standardized patient feedback surveys with 500 respondents.
  • Qualitative interviews conducted with 20 healthcare providers.
  • Quasi-experimental design used to assess changes in patient satisfaction.
  • Patient satisfaction scores increased by 15% compared to baseline levels, indicating improvements.
  • Insights gained into operational performance highlight areas needing further investigation and policy change.

Abstract

Community health centers (CHCs) in Nigeria are pivotal for delivering healthcare services to underserved populations. However, their operational efficiency and effectiveness remain underexplored. A mixed-method approach was employed, including quantitative data analysis from standardised patient feedback surveys (N=500) and qualitative interviews with healthcare providers (n=20). The preliminary findings suggest a significant increase in patient satisfaction scores by 15% compared to baseline levels, indicating potential operational improvements. Quasi-experimental design provided valuable insights into the performance of CHCs in Nigeria, highlighting areas for further investigation and policy interventions. Further research should focus on long-term impact evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses to support sustainable healthcare delivery.
