The presented degree project utilized the notion of deconstruction as defined by Jacques Derrida through defining binary oppositions within the context of body and garment relationships. This project drew inspiration from previous deconstructivist designers that have utilized and exposed these oppositions through fragmentation and juxtaposition to destabilize and expose the socially constructed norms regarding the body as an expression in fashion. This research sought to reinterpret these traditional methods in fashion deconstruction by juxtaposing elements between garment and body expression, developing connective and continuous material expression between body and garment. The research has adopted experimental construction techniques and material meetings to develop 5 outfits, suggesting different ways of creating a joint expression between body and garment.
