Sex Ratios at Birth Following Non‐Invasive Prenatal Testing in Victoria, Australia
Key Points
Findings indicate no evidence of skewed sex ratios at birth among users of non-invasive prenatal testing.
The study involved a cohort of NIPT users in Victoria, Australia, and examined their sex ratios at birth.
Data analysis focused on the prevalence of sex selection practices linked to non-invasive prenatal testing.
Further research is essential to comprehensively evaluate NIPT implications on sex ratios and potential selection.
Abstract
We did not find evidence of an overall skewed SRB among a cohort of Australian NIPT users. However, our findings warrant larger studies on NIPT use and possible sex selection practices.
