Key Points

  • Endoscopic submucosal dissection achieves higher en bloc and complete resection rates for colorectal polyps.
  • In cases of polyps sized 20-30 mm, outcomes are comparable between endoscopic techniques.
  • Systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated effectiveness and safety of each procedure.
  • Findings suggest endoscopic submucosal dissection may be preferable without increasing adverse events.

Abstract

Our meta-analysis demonstrates the superiority of ESD over EMR-P in achieving higher rates of en bloc and complete resection for colorectal polyps without increasing the risk of adverse events except for 20-30 mm polyps, where the outcomes were comparable between groups.
