This paper entitled Tagore`s Malini as a symbol of Enlightenment has interpreted Tagore`s Malini, a poetic play, on the basis of the Buddhist Philosophy of Enlightenment. The researcher has analyzed the play in the scale of various factors of enlightenment to show Malini as an enlightened character bearing all its traits. The primary as well as the secondary sources have been used with qualitative method of research to show Tagore a successful playwright presenting his protagonist as an enlightened nun. Tagore`s Malini, exploring enlightenment symbolically, finds that the Buddhist philosophy with a timeless ethical model embodied in human character, can lead both individuals and societies toward peace, harmony, compassion, and liberation, and eventually to salvation. Its interpretation and findings assist the researchers for further research, the readers to understand the play in symbolic way and the teachers to teach through the point of view of the Buddhist Philosophy of enlightenment.
