B-1a cells mitigate radiation injury by protecting intestinal barrier integrity
Key Points
Intestinal barrier integrity is maintained with B-1a cell treatment after radiation injury, enhancing recovery.
Following partial body irradiation, B-1a cell numbers decreased significantly, impacting intestinal health.
Increase in tgf-β production is linked to the protective effects of B-1a cells against radiation injury.
This finding highlights potential therapeutic approaches for radiation injury management in clinical settings.
Abstract
We demonstrated that B-1a cell numbers are significantly decreased following PBI and that B-1a cell treatment alleviates radiation-induced intestinal injury possibly via the increase in TGF-β production.
