Key Points

  • Explore the expanding role of thermal ablation in treating various thyroid cancers beyond low-risk unifocal PTMC.
  • Review of current literature on thermal ablation and its applications in thyroid cancer
  • Analysis of existing studies focusing on thermal ablation outcomes
  • Evaluation of comparative analyses with surgical management approaches
  • Thermal ablation may offer a minimally invasive treatment option for selected thyroid cancer cases
  • Further prospective studies with extended follow-up are needed
  • Current evidence suggests the need for direct comparisons with traditional surgical methods

Abstract

TA may represent a minimally invasive therapeutic option for selected thyroid cancers beyond low-risk unifocal PTMC. Nevertheless, prospective studies with extended follow-up and direct comparative analyses with surgical management are required to better define its long-term oncologic role.
