In the context of global information exchange and increased intercultural contacts, the problem of an adequate understanding of the hidden meanings of verbal communication is of particular importance. Modern English demonstrates an increasing dependence of communicative success not on the grammatical correctness of the statement, but on the ability to recognize and use pragmatic markers, from indirect requests to subtle implicatures. That is why the study of the pragmatic features of speech acts goes beyond linguistic interest, becoming a prerequisite for the formation of genuine communicative competence among language students. The work attempted a systematic analysis of the functioning of speech acts in authentic discursive practices with an emphasis on their variability depending on the socio-cultural context. Theoretical analysis included the study of fundamental works on linguistic pragmatics and the domestic anthropocentric paradigm. The empirical basis was made up of a corpus analysis of authentic texts, including a discourse analysis of court records and legal correspondence; contextual analysis of dialogs; comparative analysis of direct and indirect wording (refusal, request). The scientific value of the study lies in identifying the specifics of the implementation of illocutive intentions in modern communicative situations: from everyday communication to professional discourses. Particular attention is paid to indirect speech acts as a universal tool for polite communication, implicatures as a mechanism for transmitting hidden meanings, as well as the phenomenon of pragmatic ambiguity, which requires the addressee to dynamically interpret verbal signals. Indirect strategies and implicative constructions act not as politeness markers, but as purposeful tools for controlling communicative dynamics, especially in professional discourses where a balance between persuasiveness and tact is required. An analysis of authentic examples from judicial practice, business correspondence and informal communication showed that the effectiveness of verbal interaction directly depends on the mastery of pragmatic strategies.
