A Scoping Review is generally used in research in which gaps or greater complexity are identified in defining conceptual boundaries of a topic (Peters et. al., 2015), such as the scope of the terms 'Virtual Reality', 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'Schema Therapy' in searches for systematic reviews. The justification for this study is the importance of reviewing the state of the art on the use of technological resources applied to schema therapy and what may need to be considered when suggesting or applying a digital tool in the context of psychotherapy based on the schema therapy approach.
