Key Points

  • This research aims to understand the role of nuclear AIRE expression in lung squamous cell carcinoma and its impact on patient survival.
  • Examined a cohort of lung squamous cell carcinoma cases.
  • Analyzed the correlation between nuclear AIRE expression and immune microenvironment features.
  • Evaluated the prognostic value of AIRE expression alongside established clinicopathological variables.
  • Nuclear AIRE expression is associated with distinct immune microenvironment characteristics.
  • Higher AIRE levels correlate with poorer overall survival in patients.
  • Incremental prognostic value of AIRE expression beyond existing clinicopathological indicators is modest.

Abstract

In a LUSC cohort, nuclear AIRE expression is associated with immune microenvironment features and poorer overall survival. However, its incremental prognostic value beyond established clinicopathological variables appears modest, and further external validation and functional studies are warranted.
