This study examined the effect of teaching approach on foundational literacy skills among primary school students. A total of 133 students were assigned to either a Structured Pedagogical Approach or a Conventional Teaching Approach, and their gain scores in literacy skills were analysed using independent group comparisons. The results revealed that students taught through the Structured Pedagogical Approach achieved significantly higher literacy gains (Mean = 14.25) compared to those taught through the Conventional Teaching Approach (Mean = 5.43). These findings highlight the effectiveness of structured pedagogy in improving foundational literacy skills and emphasize the need for systematic, well-sequenced instructional strategies in primary education.
