Analysis reveals potential for extracting short-distance information in K_L->μ^+ μ^- decay, implying new insights into particle interactions.
A new analysis of he long-distance two-photon dispersive amplitude of K_L->μ^+ μ^- is presented. We introduce a phenomenological parametrization of the K->γ^*γ^* form factor, constrained at low energies by KL->γl+l- (l=e,μ) data and high energies by perturbative QCD. Using this form factor provide a reliable estimate of magnitude and relative uncertainty of the two-photon dispersive contribution in K_L->μ^+ μ^-. We finally discuss the implications of this analysis for the extraction of short-distance information from BB(K_L->μ^+ μ^-).
