AbstractBackground: This comprehensive analysis examines the complex adaptive systems that contributeto male obesity in Australia, applying an Ecological Homeostasis (EH) framework to understand howenvironmental, social, economic, and biological factors interact to create and maintain pathologicalequilibrium states.Methods: This study synthesises current epidemiological data from the Australian Bureau of StatisticsNational Health Survey 2022-23, environmental and built environment analyses, food systemdynamics, hormonal pathology research, and socioeconomic health determinants literature through anEcological Homeostasis systems lens.Findings: With 71.2% of Australian men currently affected by pathological weight homeostasis,representing among the highest rates in the OECD, understanding the systemic nature of thisepidemic is critical. Key findings indicate that homeostatic disruption occurs at multiple levels:individual (hormonal dysregulation, particularly testosterone-obesity feedback cycles), community(built environment and food accessibility), societal (policy and economic structures), andenvironmental (ultra-processed food proliferation and sedentary lifestyle normalisation). Thetestosterone-obesity bidirectional feedback loop is identified as a critical pathophysiologicalself-reinforcing cycle.Conclusions: The study proposes targeted ecological leverage point interventions based on systemsthinking approaches that address root causes rather than symptoms, with particular emphasis onrestoring metabolic homeostasis through coordinated action across multiple ecological levels. Thispaper applies Ecological Homeostasis methodology developed across cardiac neuroanatomy, AIsafety, and ecological restoration domains to population health, demonstrating a transferablesystems-thinking framework with explicit boundary statements and reversibility-focused interventionlogic. This paper includes concurrent HATI² self-evaluation (Section 11.1 and Appendix C) aspedagogical demonstration of Glassbox transparency.
