Total photoabsorption cross section is measured for carbon and lead, indicating a shadowing effect at low energies.
The total photoabsorption cross section for carbon and lead has been measured in the energy range 0.5÷2.6 GeV at Bonn using the SAPHIR tagged photon beam. Neclear data show a significant reduction of the absorption strength with respect to the free nucleon case suggesting a shadowing effect at low energies.
