Qualitative study examines the educational experiences of feminist graduate students, suggesting improvements for women's issues.
The purpose of this study was to examine the thoughts, feelings and experiences of feminist graduate students enrolled in the Master of Education (Counselling) program at Acadia University. The study was based on the personal accounts of four women and in addition, my own personal account, In-depth open-ended interviews were conducted with each participant for durations of two and a half to six hours. The results of this study indicate that the environment in the Education Department did not promote or acknowledge the experiences of these participants as women. The findings suggest that the absence of women's issues had a negative impact on the participants, however, each of the participants sought ways to resist the limitations of their educational experiences. Recommendations were made to improve conditions for women in the Education Department.
