Abstract

This study examines the operational systems of district hospitals in Tanzania to evaluate their performance in clinical outcomes. Panel data analysis was employed to examine trends over time within the Tanzanian district hospitals. Robust standard errors were calculated to account for potential heterogeneity and correlation across different units. A notable proportion (47%) of clinical procedures exceeded expected times, indicating areas needing improvement in operational efficiency. The analysis revealed significant variations in hospital performance metrics which can inform targeted interventions aimed at enhancing service delivery. District hospitals should prioritise resource allocation and training programmes to align with best practices for improving patient outcomes. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
