This thesis demonstrates a mockup tool that creates user interface designs without programming, implying easier development for applications.
Object-oriented program development is a smooth transition from problem specification through to analysis, design, and implementation. One of the components of a specification should be a user interface specification. In this thesis, we describe a tool that can be used to develop a working mockup of an application without any programming. The mockup tool creates mockup applications interface using a tool similar to the one used for the creation of an actual user interface. The specification of a usage scenario is another component of a specification and the mockup tool should be able to create, store, and replay usage scenarios. Our mockup tool stores a scenario as a recorded sequence of input events starting in a given window. This thesis consists of an introduction to object-oriented program development methodologies followed by a short description of the VisualWorks support for user interface design. The following chapters include the specification, the design, and the implementation of the mockup tool using an approach based on Responsibility Driven Design. The final chapter is a summary of this work and a list of suggestions for future work.
