A prototype of equipment for measuring the radial position of a selected bunch in the aperture of the septum magnet SM24 has been created at IHEP. It is required for fast beam extraction from the U-70 synchrotron. Double measurement immediately before and at the moment of extraction allows us to determine the bunch kick strength into the septum aperture with a RMS error of no worse than 0.5 mm. In this article, the equipment is reviewed and the results of testing in real conditions are presented.
