Abstract

The article deals with the results of breeding work by the method of mass multiple selection via free unlimited cross-pollination of Dactylis glomerata L. The initial material is represented by VIR (All-Russian Institute of Genetic Plant Resources named after N. I. Vavilov) collection samples, which include breeding varieties of domestic and foreign origin, as well as wild populations. By the obtained results, the selected samples CH-188 and CH-1816 have high seed productivity. The sample CH-188 dominate by seed yield producing 6.6 centners per hectare. It has a high number of seeds per inflorescence (76.0 %). Its 1000 seeds weight 1.72 g. Among the breeding specimens, the adaptability coefficient ranges from 83 % for CH-1816 to 123 % for CH-188. Summarising the data for two mowing periods, the selected sample CH-188 is highly productive and attains maximum yields of green mass – 47.4 t/ha (+24 % to the control) and dry matter – 9.5 t/ha (+22 % to the control). The last samples under study have a total yield of 38.4 t green mass/ha and 7.8 t dry matter/ha identified for three examination years and correspond to to the control sample of Neva variety.
