Key Points

  • The study aims to describe the immunohistochemical subtypes in a population of breast cancer patients with non-BRCA germline variants.
  • Characterized a cohort of breast cancer patients in Turkey with non-BRCA gene variants.
  • Analyzed the distribution of immunohistochemical subtypes of tumors.
  • Identified pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants in susceptibility genes.
  • Found diverse immunohistochemical subtypes among non-BRCA variant carriers.
  • Demonstrated the significance of non-BRCA germline variants in breast cancer pathology.
  • Provided insights into the hereditary components of breast cancer in a Turkish population.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is a heterogeneous disease with a hereditary component, but the impact of non-BRCA germline variants on tumor subtypes remains underexplored, particularly in diverse populations. This study aims to describe the distribution of immunohistochemical (IHC) subtypes in a Turkish BC patient cohort with pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants (PVs/LPVs) in non-BRCA susceptibility genes.
