Mixed-methods assessment finds mobile health platforms improve maternal health access in Uganda, suggesting enhanced training is needed for community health workers.
Open-Source Mobile Health Platforms have shown promise in improving maternal health care delivery, particularly in resource-limited settings like Uganda. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from surveys and qualitative insights from focus group discussions was employed. Findings indicate that while the platforms have enhanced awareness about maternal health, there is a need for more robust training of community health workers to ensure accurate use and impact. The Open-Source Mobile Health Platforms are effective in increasing access to maternal health information but require further support to optimise their utility. Enhanced training programmes should be developed to improve the efficacy of community health workers using these platforms, alongside ongoing platform improvements.
