The reaction mechanism predicts production rates of Ξ hyperons, suggesting coupling constants influence outcomes.
We study the production of excited Ξ − hyperons in the proton.kaon collision p+K − → K + + Ξ − . The reaction mechanism is described using an effective Lagrangian approach, while the u-channel contribution is treated within a Reggeized baryon exchange model. The coupling constants for the Ξ − . states are determined using a constituent quark model based on a quark–diquark description of baryon wave functions. Within this framework, we predict the relative production rates of Ξ − (1320), Ξ − (1530), and several l = 1 excited states. We also briefly discuss the production rates of the Ξ * . states within the present framework.
