Demonstrates parameter selection impacts initial rotational stiffness in T-stub connections, indicating efficient design improvements.
To enhance the efficiency of parameter selection in the design of T‐stub connections and to achieve the desired initial rotational stiffness more economically, this study comprehensively considers a range of geometric parameters. A parametric modeling approach was employed to batch generate and solve finite element models of the connections. Based on the results of partial correlation analysis, the bolt grade, flange thickness of the T‐stub, vertical edge distance, and bolt pitch were selected as conditional factors for a categorized discussion. The sensitivity of these parameters to the initial rotational stiffness was quantified. Consequently, a targeted parameter selection methodology was developed to obtain the desired initial rotational stiffness under varying design conditions, providing valuable guidance for connection design. This research also indicates that preferentially adjusting the vertical edge distance is an effective strategy for rapidly attaining the required initial rotational stiffness.
