ABSTRACT An emended taxonomic description of the endemic palm species Phoenix andamanensis S. Barrow–now recognized as Phoenix lallani R.Kr.Singh (Arecaceae) is presented and illustrated. The species has been rediscovered from Cinque Wildlife Sanctuary and Rutland Island after a long interval. Its habitat, ecology, distribution, macro‐propagation through seeds, and strategies for germplasm conservation are briefly discussed, along with its potential as an edible plant. Notably, this is the first time a detailed description of the floral morphology, including both male and female structures, is provided.
