Mitsubishi Electric introduces AZ600, which utilizes the Directed Energy Deposition (DED) method employing metal wire and fiber laser technology. This combination offers several advantages over metal powder base 3D printing, including: i) stable material properties, ii) enhanced safety, iii) cost-effectiveness, iv) the ability to produce dense structures, and v) the creation of highquality components. The AZ600 is equipped with a process control function that ensures stability during the wire DED process. This paper highlights the features of our wire-laser metal 3D printer, AZ600, focusing particularly on its process control functions and presenting various application examples.
