Abstract In this research paper, a single‐slope solar still with a semicircular base was fabricated and tested (SCS). To obtain the maximum amount of available solar radiation, the model is designed with a curved base to reduce the shadow of the walls falling on the absorption plate. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the innovative distillation device, its actual performance is compared to that of a conventional distillation device (CSS) designed from exactly the same materials and with a square absorption base with the same area. Experimental results indicated that the semicircular still (SCS) enhanced the overall production by about 230.2% compared to its conventional counterpart (CSS). Which reduced the cost of producing one liter of drinking water by about 69%.
