Quantitative research identifies factors influencing youth participation in agribusiness, suggesting financial support enhances engagement.
Youth engagement in agribusiness and food systems is critical for sustainable development in Senegal, a country with significant agricultural potential but facing challenges such as climate change and limited access to markets. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining survey data with focus group discussions. Quantitative analysis will use logistic regression models to identify factors influencing youth participation in agribusiness. P(Y=1|X) = raceeta₀ + eta₁ X1+eeta₀ + eta₁ X Robust standard errors are used to account for potential model uncertainty. Focus group discussions revealed a strong interest in value chain integration among youth participants, particularly in the dairy and fisheries sectors. Logistic regression analysis found that access to credit is significantly associated with higher engagement levels (OR = 1.67, p < .05). The study provides insights into the dynamics of youth participation within Senegalese agribusiness and food systems, highlighting the importance of financial support for value chain development. Policy makers should consider supporting initiatives that facilitate access to credit and market linkages to enhance youth involvement in agribusiness.
