Key Points

  • To present the whole-genome sequence of Escherichia coli DH5α, a vital laboratory strain for molecular biology.
  • Utilized whole-genome sequencing to assemble the genome of Escherichia coli DH5α.
  • Employed Qiagen's DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit for DNA extraction.
  • Used the Oxford Nanopore MinION platform for sequencing.
  • Generated a high-quality genome of Escherichia coli DH5α (~4.58 Mb).
  • Achieved a GC content of 50.8%.
  • Provided insights into the genetic structure and functional characteristics of the strain.

Abstract

We present the whole-genome sequence of Escherichia coli DH5α, a laboratory strain integral to molecular biology applications. We assembled a high-quality genome using Qiagen's DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit and the Oxford Nanopore MinION platform (~4.58 Mb, 50.8% guanine-cytosine GC content), offering insights into genetic structure and functional characteristics.
