Evaluates the adoption of robotics for improved outcomes in sports medicine, suggesting significant potential benefits.
The integration of robotics into arthroscopy and sports medicine has lagged in comparison to other surgical fields. Advantages of this technology are numerous and include improved dexterity and precision as well as multi-dimensional and AI-assisted visualization and navigation. Leveraging and applying the advances made in other surgical domains to arthroscopic techniques and procedures will result in significant gains in many facets of arthroscopic surgery. While robotics will enhance surgeon control and ability, ultimately adoption will depend on demonstrating superior long-term clinical outcomes. While there are many barriers to adoption, they are not insurmountable and surgical robotics in other fields have clearly demonstrated that these can be overcome and the rewards can be achieved
