Abstract

Design as Event III — Deep Morphogenesis Chamber is the third live computational research instrument in the Design as Event corpus. It investigates how discrete morphogenetic events can emerge from an active spatial field and be rendered inspectable, stabilizable, and archiveable without being reduced to atmospheric effect or visual spectacle. The project is grounded in a precise distinction: state carries continuity, while event carries difference. Within this system, the field is not a neutral background but a causal condition of formation. Events do not appear as arbitrary intensifications or decorative anomalies. They arise through a structured temporal sequence: latency, ignition, condensation, articulation, and unstable after-states such as holding, stress, collapse, and residual trace. The chamber operationalizes weighted admissibility instead of random nearest-neighbor logic. Connections form through selective relational conditions, allowing coherent event bodies to emerge without dissolving into noise, fog, or purely ambient behavior. Three active depth planes reinforce the field as a causal medium, while the visual hierarchy privileges wires over vertices in order to preserve structural legibility and prevent the event from overwhelming the state from which it is extracted. A central contribution of the work lies in its inspect and archive logic. Generated bodies can be stabilized, isolated, examined, and retained as specimens rather than consumed as fleeting effects. The archive therefore functions not as a decorative gallery, but as a specimen-based logic of retention that preserves morphogenetic formations as analyzable event bodies. The contribution of the work is not a general theory of morphogenesis.
